shampooing your hair

Is It Bad To Shampoo Your Hair Every Day?

Well one of the most common questions that I get asked every single day is, ‘Is it bad to wash your hair every day?’ And my answer is always the same. No! It’s not provided you are using good quality professional use products.  We wouldn’t not wash our face every day,  or take off the makeup,  or wash off the daily stresses off the skin on our face. And our scalp is no different to that!

Our scalp is an extension to the skin on our face so it deserves the exact same care that we would give to our face. I recommend everybody washing their hair if not every day a minimum of three times a week. And that’s going to help remove excess sebum, dead skin that we would be shedding, environmental stresses, dust, dirt, deodorants, smells and all that will be sitting on our scalp. That in turn can block the follicle and inhibit good healthy hair growth.

To encourage good healthy hair growth from a good environment then yes I would recommend that you wash your hair every day or like you say a minimum of three times a week. Providing you are using good quality professional use product. All good quality professional use products now contain ingredients that is going to help to moisturize the hair, balance the scalp, balance the ph and provide a great healthy environment for hair to grow. Professional use products will also have colour safe ingredients in them so they’re not going to destroy your colour or make the colour fade or anything like that.

So Yep! basically in a nutshell I recommend everybody washes their hair more regularly to have amazing hair.

Which GHD Styler is Best For You

Which GHD Styler is Best For You

Hi guys Caroline Bell here from the hairsalon.ie

Today I’m going to have a chat with you about ghd stylers. I get asked all the time what’s the difference between the stylers and which I’d recommend for your hair. So I’m going to explain the different stylers today. And I hope that helps you to decide which will be best suited to your hair and your needs. So ghd stylers come in three different types, ghd original, ghd gold, and ghd platinum plus.

The ghd original

was launched 20 years ago. And I remember when it hit the salon floor and we thought we could blow dry hair straight! Until the ghd landed and then we saw what straight hair really looked like!! So the all ghds will heat to a maximum of 185 degrees. And this is the optimum temperature that we should use on our hair. Anything higher than this is going to be damaging to our hair. So you can be guaranteed no matter which styler you are using they will only heat to 185 degrees. So are the least damaging to our hair.

The ghd original i would say is suited to anybody who just needs a styler, who doesn’t use it that regularly, but you want to have a styler there for the night out for the important work meeting. And you want to be able to run a straighteners through your hair.

The ghd gold

was the next one that came on board with ghd. And what they did here was they upgraded the plates in the ghd styler. And these plates glide through the hair a lot easier causing less friction on the hair.  The ghd gold will be suitable for anybody who likes to use their ghd regularly. It has great plates in it which is going to offer the protection, again will only heat to 185 degrees. And has an even temperature from either side of the plate, so there’s no hot spots or cold spots on the plates. So it is suitable for anybody whose hair is in good condition and you use your straightener regularly.

The ghd platinum plus

I would say is the smartest straighteners on the market. It has a new technology behind it which can detect the porosity of the hair, something crazy like 300 times per second. As it glides through your hair if it detects porosity in your hair, it will reduce heat to the styler at that particular second. So as you’re running your styler through your hair, if it detects any damaged spots it will reduce the heat to the styler therefore won’t create any more damage. So the platinum plus I would say would be for any blondes. Anybody who has blonde hair should be using a platinum plus. For anybody with damaged hair, for anybody with who uses it very regularly. You know I know ye the ones that get up every single morning and run the straightener all around the edges and the finer hair! I know who you are because I see you on the salon floor all the time! So if you use your straightener very regularly and you have damaged hair or you have blonde hair then I would definitely recommend going with the platinum plus

So I hope that helps you decide. You would go for ghd gold if you have good conditioned hair, but like to use your straightener regularly. You would use the ghd original if you just want to have a styler to use very rarely,  every so often for your night out on a Saturday. And you would use the ghd platinum plus definitely of your blonde or if you have damaged hair.  So I hope that explains things a little bit more.

All ghd stylers are available on our own website https://thehairsalon.ie/product-category/ghd/ and if you have any more questions regarding ghd stylers then pop over to our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/thehairsalon.ie/ and my dms over there are always opened so you can ask me anything, and I will answer any of your questions talk to you all later thanks guys.

Introduction to Nioxin and some FAQ’s

Text has been auto generated from video.

I want to give you a brief introduction to Nioxin.  Nioxin is the number one salon selling brand for thinning hair.  Nioxin is all about the 3ds the derma the density and the diameter of the hair.  Results from Nioxin can be seen within 30 days, so within 30 days of using your Nioxin system correctly you will have visibly thicker fuller hair.

All Nioxin  kits come as a three-step program.  First step in it is your scalp cleanser,  so this is going to help remove any follicle clogging sebum or fatty acids that would be sitting on the scalp blocking the follicle and inhibiting hair growth.

Step two is your scalp revitalizer, this is almost like your moisturizer for your scalp.  It’s going to improve the moisture balance of the scalp and the hair.  This gets massaged into the scalp.  I know anybody with fine hair is afraid of conditioner because they’re afraid it is going to weigh the hair down.  This will not at all weigh the hair down, this is a lightweight moisturizer for the scalp. It’s going to look after the density of the hair it is going to help new hair to grow through by giving it the perfect environment to grow into.

Step 3 is your hair and scalp treatment. This is what’s going to look after the diameter of the hair this is going to make each hair strand thicker.  This gets applied on after we have shampooed conditioned and towel dried our hair gently.  It gets applied onto the scalp area of the hair, you massage it in brush through and dry your hair as normal.

The whole Nioxin system used together correctly is most definitely going to give you visibly thicker fuller looking hair after 30 days.  The results I have seen from it are amazing.  Nioxin systems come from system one through to system six. One and two being for normal hair that’s not colour treated.  Nioxin systems three and four being for colour treated hair. And systems 5 and 6 being for chemically treated hair.  That would be bleached hair,  highlighted hair permed hair,  or chemically straightened hair.  System 5 and 6 would also be used for curly frizzy hair that needs extra moisture put into it to manage it.

The whole Nioxin range is is huge so you can add on as required. If you need extra conditioning, if you need styling products,  if you need heat protect, if you need products to help to aid in the blow-drying of your hair.  The range is absolutely amazing and I have to say I love working with Nioxin because the results that I do see are amazing.  It’s mind-blowing stuff!

Nioxin is fully supported by the institute of trichology the research and development behind this range is amazing.  And anybody that I have had on Nioxin has seen the results of it. I get loads of questions then like do I need to stay on my Nioxin forever ? Well you don’t have to stay on Nioxin forever, but from what I have seen anybody who does use Nioxin,  if they come off it they want to go back on it!  Because the feeling of that thickness and that fullness in your hair you won’t get from any other range.  There’s nothing in it that gets you addicted to the range,  so yes you can leave it and it is not going to have any adverse  complications or anything like that.  But you won’t want to leave it!

Is Nioxin only for people with thinning hair? No! Nioxin is for anybody who wants thicker fuller looking hair. So even if you have fine hair that always sits flat on the head and you want something that is going to give you the appearance of having fuller hair then Nioxin would also be for you.

Nioxin is all about the 3ds I always say that. The derma being your scalp, it is going to promote good healthy scalp and provide the best environment for hair to grow in. And look after the density of the hair, so it’s going to encourage new hair growth. It will awaken any of our follicles that might just be gone dormant, gone to sleep. And it will look after the density of the hair. So it’s going to make each hair strand appear thicker and fuller.

Another common question I get, Is is it too late to start using Nioxin? Well if we’ve left it way too long and all our follicles have gone from dormant to dead then yes! So Nioxin is all about looking after the hair that we do have on our head. So if you want to keep the hair that you have now, then Nioxin is for you.

If you have any other questions regarding Nioxin or hair thinning or hair loss, then pop over to our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/thehairsalon.ie/ My dms are always opened there, and you can pop your questions in there. And I will answer them for you. I also do free online consultations, so if you would like a video call pop over to Instagram message me and we will arrange a video call where we can discuss your hair issues and get you on the road to thicker fuller looking hair

Olaplex Products Explained

Script taken from subtitles.

Hi guys!

Caroline bell here from the hair salon.ie Today I want to chat with you about Olaplex and tell you a little bit about,  who it’s for, what it does,  and what to expect from olaplex. So olaplex was originally designed for the hairdresser, so it was almost our insurance whilst we were colouring your hair to maintain the integrity of the hair.  It isn’t your ticket to white hair!

I get all the time clients coming in to me with pictures of white hair, saying I want that. Can we use olaplex to get me there?  Olaplex isn’t your ticket to white hair,  but what olaplex is is an insurance to maintain the integrity of the hair whilst we colour you. To help you achieve your dream colour.  Olaplex originally was just used in salon to add to our colour to protect the hair whilst we were colouring.  And then it expanded and it became a whole take home range  As well which is the olaplex that you know today.

And that is amazing so we can protect your hair in salon using olaplex one and two and then olaplex zero three four five six seven and eight are yours to take home to maintain the integrity of the hair and prep the hair for your next colour service . Also so olaplex works internally on the hair repairing broken disulphide bonds.

We have broken bonds in our hair for many different reasons. So whether that is from colouring our hair, bleaching our hair, from over styling our hair, not using heat protect and damaging our hair and normal day-to-day stressors like brushing our hair can also damage the hair. So olaplex is going to work internally to repair any of those broken bonds and used correctly and used over time will bring your hair back to a virgin like state.

It is an amazing product and it is a hairdresser’s dream product to work with. We love it because it does give us that like I said that insurance just to push the hair that little bit further. And know that we can carry out service in salon and your hair will be in the same condition if not better when you are leaving the salon.

Now to talk about the at-home range. The olaplex zero and three these are the at-home treatment and zero and three used together is going to give you salon strength olaplex at home. Both these need to be used together to give you that salon strength  of olaplex experience. You can use these once a week or if your hair is extremely damaged then you can use it two to three times a week.

Olaplex four and five our shampoo and conditioner. So again these contain olaplex patented ingredients for bond re- building . You can use these daily. They can be used as a daily shampoo and conditioner. They are extremely concentrated so a little goes a long way with olaplex number four and five. I would always say the size of the top of the bottle is the amount of product that you need to use when you are shampooing or conditioning your hair.

Olplex 6 is our bond smoother which is a leave-in olaplex treatment. Which is going to help to smooth in the bonds, close down the cuticle and keep it locked and sealed. And keep your colour inside for longer.

Olaplex number seven is your smoothing oil this can be used on the hair wet or dry.  It’s lovely to use on the hair afterwards when it is dry to smoothen down any of those flyaways and add more shine to your hair.

Olaplex number eight is the latest edition and this actually jumps the queue so it was always you would use all of olaplex in numerical order. And then number eight came and it is going to jump the queue ahead of six and seven. You would use this after you shampoo your hair and my clients love this. And why hairdressers love this is the client is going to see more of a difference from this than what you will from your zero and three. Zero and three are working internally on the hair repairing the bonds. So as a client when we’re doing treatments on our hair what we do like to see and feel is that silky moisturized feel. They’ve brought number eight along and that not only repairs the bonds internally. But it also drops moisture into the hair and that is going to give you that silkier condition. You will know you have done a treatment on your hair.

Olaplex Zero and three are stronger and as a hairdresser we love you using those because that is what is going to do the most work in the hair. And olaplex number eight is a fantastic add-on to that to not only repair your bonds,  but also to restore the moisture levels in the hair.

So who should use olaplex? Anybody who colours their hair. Especially those who bleach their hair, highlight their hair or chemically straighten their hair. It’s suitable to use every day as your shampoo and conditioner and your treatment can be used once a week to three times a week. Your number six and seven can be used daily.

It’s also a gorgeous range for anybody with curly hair.  Olaplex is fantastic for making your curls more manageable, smoothing the frizz and creating more of a defined curl in the hair. Your six and seven can be left on the hair to dry naturally as well. So for anybody with naturally curly hair they’re lovely products to leave in to help you manage your curl at home.

i hope that answers some of your questions regarding Olaplex. If you have any more questions on it make sure you pop over to our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/thehairsalon.ie/ my dms are always opened, and I am more than happy to answer any of your questions there.  The Olaplex range is available on our website the hairsalon.ie and we post anywhere in Ireland.

I will talk to you all soon take care

Have a great day

An Introduction to Caroline Bell & Thehairsalon.ie

Well guys how are we!

I want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves, let you know who is Caroline Bell and what is thehairsalon.ie?

So, I am Caroline Bell I am a hairdresser with over 25 years’ experience on the salon floor.  I am a colourist; colour is my passion with colour correction being one of my specialities. I love a challenge I cannot say no to a challenge!  I am a wife, I am a mother, and I have a as hair salon here in Cobh in county Cork. It is a nice busy salon and Cobh is a beautiful town to live in well. It is a tourist town, so we have a lot of different people coming in and out of our doors every day. So that is me!

Thehairsalon.ie was set up a while back just because I needed a website address for different things that you would be doing over time. So, I always had the website the hairsalon.ie and it was sitting there dormant not doing a whole lot. And then lockdown happened in March of 2020 and that was a big shock obviously for all of us.

As a hairdresser what I saw was my clients needed a little bit of help at home looking after their hair while salons were closed. So, for that I took to Instagram. every morning I would get up, wash my hair on Instagram and show people how to manage their hair. How to blow dry their hair, give hints and tips on solving different hair issues that people were having during lockdown. And advise which products would be best suited to the client and to the specific problems and hair types that they had.

With that it opened the website. I put all our products that we would retail within the salon up online on the hairsalon.ie. And when I would advise people on what they needed to use, or what would be best suited for their hair they could purchase these on the website and have them delivered straight to their door.

So that grew that really did grow fast. I found out a lot of people coming on to my Instagram page who were not clients who were looking for some help and advice on how to manage their own hair at home. So we built their own little community over there on Instagram and it’s great fun! I love it I love chatting with people every day and I love being able to help people and advise them on the best products that will be suitable for their hair.

So over time what I have learned is people were jumping onto websites buying products because maybe an influencer was using them online, or they had maybe read an article about them, or heard that they were good, or their friend was using them and maybe suggested they should use them. And then they would just jump onto a website buy these products and then find that they were not doing what they expected them to do. And that would be because they were not specifically aimed at their hair their hair type or the hair problem that they were trying to address.

So thehairsalon.ie really works with the website and Instagram. People jump onto Instagram to me my dms are always open on Instagram. They tell me their hair problems, and I advise on the products that I think will be best suited to their hair needs. Being a hairdresser, I work with all these products daily on the salon floor and I work with them on many different hair types. So i know exactly from experience what products work best for certain hair types and certain hair issues. I also know what hair types these products do not work well with and I can give good honest reviews on these products and who they are suitable for.

Basically, hair care has become a minefield and there are so many options. It can be very overwhelming and hair care isn’t cheap now. You are spending your hard-earned money on good hair care products and then maybe not seeing the value from them because they are not specifically targeting your issues.

The hairsalon.ie is all about putting together your personalized hair care regime and products that are best aimed at your hair and your hair type. So, like I said the website works in conjunction with our Instagram page. You could pop onto our Instagram page you can message me you can send me pictures of your hair you can tell me all about your hair issues.  I will advise which products from the website would be best suited to your hair type so you are getting a consultation basically on helping you choose the correct products.

I take great pride in what I do. I take it very personally and I love checking back in with clients and getting client feedback on how they are getting on with their products. And you know if we need to alter change or just tweak the regime a little bit if there is something that we are missing from that and not solving an issue then we can tweak that as we go. So i I see this as a great service. I really do! I would love it myself on other issues whether I would be looking for clothes or whether I would be looking for skin care, I would love to be able to get that professional and personalized advice to guide me in the right direction. Before I spend my hard-earned cash!

That is my aim and going forward what I am not going to let go of. I do not want the hairsalon.ie to turn into a mainstream website where people just go buy products and then do not get the great results from them. I want to keep this all personal all my messages on Instagram are answered personally by myself.  I do take great pride in it and really enjoy it so if you need help choosing products to suit your hair or your hair problem then reach out over to thehairsalon.ie on Instagram. Message me, send me pictures of your hair and we can come up with a solution for you.

I also offer online consultations where we can do video calls. All my consultations are free, and we can set up a video call. If you are suffering maybe from hair loss or from scalp issues or something that needs a little bit more than just a text, then absolutely reach out to me and we can arrange a consultation. And guide you in the right direction and make sure that what you are spending your hard-earned cash on is doing the job that you wanted to do.

That is, it that’s Caroline Bell and thehairsalon.ie. I hope that you all pop over to Instagram give us a follow over there keep in touch with me if you are using any of our products then keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on with them. And if you need any help in the future choosing other products just reach out and shout. Guys that is it! I will talk to you all soon, uh sure I’ll be on Instagram tomorrow morning no doubt with some more hints and tips on this week’s hair issues and yeah, I look forward to chatting to you all at some stage.

Have a great day!

olaplex for damaged hair

Olaplex For Damaged Hair

Olaplex for Damaged Hair

olaplex for damage

Out of all treatments available for damaged hair, nothing compares to Olaplex. It is the original Plexing Treatment.  Which a patented technology that repairs broken Disulphide bonds in the hair.

So why are Disulphide bonds so important?

All hair contains millions of disulphide bonds which give the hair its structure, strength, and stability. When all the bonds, especially the disulphide bonds, are intact and in alignment, you have healthy, beautiful, shiny, touchable hair. When disulphide bonds are broken, it results in damage.

How we Damage Hair!

We damage hair daily. Split ends, frizz, lacklustre Colour, thinning and dryness. These can all be related to broken disulphide bonds. Using heated styling tools can lead to damaged hair.  Mechanical damage from brushing, rough towel drying or tying hair up too tight can all lead to damage.

UV damage from the sun, humidity, extreme hot/cold weather conditions. Pollution, etc. all have a negative impact on the hair’s bonds.

Chemical services can also cause damage to hair. These services include Colour, Lighteners, Perms.

olaplex

What can we do to treat Damaged Hair?

So this is where Olaplex comes in. Olaplex was discovered by scientists.  Working on something else altogether.  They discovered a side effect of what they had come up with was something that could rebuild broken disulphide bonds in the hair.

Originally a product hairdressers could add to colours to prevent damaging bonds whilst colouring. They then expanded to a complete take home range for people with damaged hair.

olaplex treatment

Olaplex now is from number 0 Right through to Number 8.  Olaplex 1 & 2 being in salon only treatments. And the rest are take home products. Olaplex 0 & 3 used together at home  give the same strength treatment as an in salon treatment. Olaplex 4 & 5 being your shampoo and conditioner. Which both have Olaplex bond repairing properties and are suitable for every day use. Olaplex 6 & 7 are finishing products. With 6 being a bond smoothing leave in treatment. And 7 being an oil which gives heat protection. Whilst closing and smoothing the cuticle to help keep colour locked inside for longer. Olaplex 8 which is newly launched is a treatment mask that will also add moisture to the hair. This is really the icing on the cake when it comes to treating damaged hair.

See Olaplex in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVNU2pbqpi4

So who’s it suited to?

Olaplex is suitable for anyone with damaged hair that is crying out for repair. Its not your ticket to white hair. But it preserves and maintains the integrity of the hair, allowing you to colour regularly without damaging hair. It is also amazing for anyone with curly hair. It helps fight frizz and define curls.

post partum hair loss

Post Partum Hair Loss

Post Partum Hair loss

Post partum hair loss is extremely common so don’t feel alone. Approx. 4 in 10 women will experience hair loss after giving birth although I would imagine the true figure to be much higher.

Whilst pregnant firstly we are producing hormones which keep hair in the active growth phase. Secondly we have a higher volume of blood circulating through our bodies which feed our hair. And thirdly we generally eat healthier and may be taking supplements. Resulting in amazing, thick, lush hair whilst pregnant!

Our hormone levels drop back to normal levels immediately after having our baby. This puts the hair immediately into resting phase. After approx. 3 month our hair reaches the shedding phase and this is where we notice excessive shedding.

On average we shed 100-150 hairs every day, but postpartum we can shed up to 400 hairs a day! This can be quite scary as this can be noticeable in your brush, hair clogging the shower, or you may see hair fall on your pillow. Although it can be scary, we must remember this is hair that would have fell during the 9 months of pregnancy. We are just seeing 9 months of fall all at once!

This may be visible in finer areas of our hair ie. around the front hairline or through the crown and can be quite traumatic for women. The good thing to know is postpartum hair loss is most often temporary and will grow back  requiring no treatment.

Sometimes treatment is required to speed up the growth and thicken up our hair. The Results will psychologically make us feel better and regain our confidence. Its also advised to take action if there is a history of Female Pattern Baldness in the family.

How To Treat Post Partum Hair Loss

I am delighted to be taking a client of mine through her post partum hair loss journey.  We are following Laura’s journey live on Instagram so as we can monitor progress. You can catch upon our first live meeting here https://www.instagram.com/tv/CM4cj60JJJi/

post partum hair loss

I always recommend https://thehairsalon.ie/product-category/nioxin/.  Because Nioxin was created by a lady called Eva Graham after suffering postpartum hair loss herself. At the time there was  no product on the market that was not aimed at males and male pattern baldness. Eva’s theory that the scalp is an extension of the skin on our face was ground-breaking! In theory looking after the scalp, will in turn promote good healthy hair growth therefore creating thicker, fuller hair.

NIOXIN and its ground-breaking skincare approach to hair loss offers a 3-step system widely endorsed by OB/GYN’s the world over, and is fully endorsed by The Institute Of Trichology.  This truly is skincare science for new mums at its very best. The NIOXIN 3-step system consists of a cleanser, revitalizer and scalp treatment, customized to your individual hair needs, delivering a personalized hair and scalp treatment plan just for you!

If Post Partum Hair Loss is an issue for you please reach out and we can get a plan in place for you. Message our Instagram page anytime for any hair concerns https://www.instagram.com/thehairsalon.ie/

40 useless hair facts

40 Useless But Interesting Hair Facts! Just A Bit Of Fun!

Do you ever wonder what goes on in other people’s minds? Well, I do all the time!!

I think it comes from years of staring at people’s heads I often find myself wondering what’s going on in there! I’m going to let you into my mind for a bit! What goes on in there is hair! I eat, sleep and breath hair. Most of the hair information in my brain is required to carry out my job thoroughly, safely and make the best decision as to what’s required to fulfil my clients wishes and help them solve their problem, whether that’s hair loss, scalp issues, finding the perfect product combination to help them achieve their dream hair at home or trying to achieve the sometimes-impossible colour result. So, most of the hair knowledge that I have learned and stored over my 25years behind the chair is vital but some of it is useless information!!!

So, I would like to share with you some of this useless information that you can store in case you ever find yourself in a situation where perhaps knowing this could end up in you winning that table quiz in your local parish centre and you can take home the first prize of a cheap chocolate Santa! So, I have compiled 40 of the most useless hair facts I have stored in my mind!

  • Blondes have more hairs on their heads than all other colours! They top the charts with 150,000 strands; brunettes have 100,000 strands, and redheads average about 90,000 strands.
  • Many shop-bought hair colours contain metallic salts that build up on the hair shaft. They can cause breakage or severe discoloration if later coloured by a professional hairstylist.
  • Humans have the same amount of hair follicles as a chimpanzee.
  • The scientific term for split ends is Trichoptilosis.
  • Human hair appears to  grow after death due to dehydration and the shrinking of the skin.
  • Less than 2% of the world’s population has naturally red hair.
  • A lock of Elvis’ hair once sold at an auction for $15,000.

  • In 1950, only 5% of women dyed their hair. Now, that number has increased to 75%!
  • A strand of hair is stronger than a copper wire of equivalent diameter.
  • The only part of hair that is not dead is within the scalp.
  • If a man never shaved with, his beard would grow to over 30 feet in his lifetime.
  • Chemotherapy causes the hair to fall out because it is intended to eliminate cells that replicate quickly. Since hair follicle cells grow and divide quickly, they are adversely affected.
  • Tonsurphobia is the fear of haircuts’.
  • The hair of an average person can grow up to 590 miles if left uncut.
  • In ancient Rome, women dyed their hair with pigeon droppings.
  • Hair becomes drier with age as a result of shrinking oil glands.
  • The purpose of hair is to regulate body temperature since our head lacks the thermal insulation fat layers.
  • Scientists have discovered that people with a higher IQ have more zinc and copper in their hair.
  • The growing stage of hair is called anagen, and the resting phase is called catagen. When hair goes into the telogen phase, it will shed.
  • Hair is the second fastest growing tissue in the body after bone marrow.
  • Blow drying alters the shape of the hair by changing their hydrogen bonds.
  • Cutting your hair does not influence how fast it will grow.

  • All of the hair follicles you’ll ever have were formed when you were a fetus (at 5 months).
  • The only thing that CAN’T be identified by hair is gender.
  • If you counted the growth of all the hairs on an average person’s head, in one year it would equate to over 10 miles of hair growth!
  • A strand of hair is stronger than a copper wire of equivalent diameter.
  • Body hair is generally shorter because the growing phase is a lot shorter than that of hair on the scalp.
  • The process of removing unwanted body hair dates back to the ancient Egyptians.

  • Facial hair grows faster than any other type of body hair.
  • The natural part is caused by hair streams on the scalp. This refers to the effect created when hair follicles slope in the same direction. When two hair streams slope in opposite directions, a natural part occurs.
  • The average lifespan of a strand of hair is 4-7 years.
  • Every inch of the human body is covered in hair besides the palms, soles of the feet, and lips.
  • The size of a hair follicle determines the thickness and length of hair.
  • 95% of right-handed people grow cowlicks in a clockwise direction.
  • Trichotillomania is the name of a compulsive hair-pulling disorder (that typically involves hair, eyelashes, and/or eyebrows) It’s more common in women and usually stress related.
